Online Giving Update -
Many of you have utilized online giving this week. However, some have experienced issues with our new online giving platform.
If you have given online in the past and wish to do so in the weeks ahead, please make sure to read through the instructions on our giving page. You will be required to reset your password to access our new system and give online.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
A lot has happened in our community this week, but we are still looking forward to worshipping with you tomorrow either in person or online!
At the Hazel Dell Campus, services will be at their normal times of 9am and 10:30am. Pastor Mark will be speaking, and his message from the 9am service will be streamed to the Jefferson Street Campus. It will also be available about 9:20am online via our Facebook page. If you feel it is in your best interest and the interest of others to stay home, we encourage you to watch online. The video will remain on our Facebook page if you would rather view it at a later time.
We will be complying with the Health Department’s order of a maximum of 250 people per room. You can help us maximize our attendance across our three services tomorrow. If you usually attend the first service at the Hazel Dell Campus, please consider joining us at the 10:30am service or the 9am service at the Jefferson Street Campus as those services usually have fewer people in attendance. If the Hazel Dell Sanctuary reaches 250, you will be able to enjoy the service in the cafe, where the service will be streamed to the televisions.
To keep an accurate count of people in the room at the Hazel Dell Campus, we will enter the Sanctuary through the middle set of doors located near the Info Booth. We will exit through the side doors.
Offering will be a bit different this week too. Ushers will not collect our tithes and offerings during the service. Instead, you can drop off your gift in one of the offering buckets as you enter or exit the Sanctuary. We also encourage you to give online anytime through our website, especially if you are not able to join us in person.
We will not be passing out any handouts tomorrow. If you would like to follow the sermon notes, either from home or in the Sanctuary, download the latest version of The Bible App to your phone and open it. Select “More” from the botton right of the screen, then “Events.” Calvary Church will show up in the list of local churches once the service is live.
Our cleaning team has been working hard to prepare and prevent the spread of germs at both of our campuses. We ask that you also join us in our efforts to reduce risk by doing the following:
- Stay home if you have any cold or flu-like symptoms or meet any of the other Coronavirus high-risk criteria.
- Refrain from handshakes and hugs. You can still be friendly with smiles and waves!
- Keep at least one, if not two, seats between you and others not in your immediate family. Since the Sanctuaries will not be anywhere near capacity due to the order, there will be plenty of space to spread out.
- Leave after the service, instead of lingering in the Café or common areas.
- And last but definitely not least, wash your hands often.
If you have children in Calvary Kids, their health and safety continues to be our priority. If your child exhibits symptoms or is not feeling well, we ask that you please keep him or her home. If your child exhibits any symptoms while attending a Calvary Kids or Calvary Youth service or event, you will need to come pick up your child.
We will continue to stay up to date with local officials. If at any point we make changes to our services or events, we will update you as soon as possible.
In the meantime, continue to pray for the our federal, state, and local leaders. They are having to make tough decisions that affect the masses. Also pray for the families of those affected by the Coronavirus. Their lives have been affected much more than our own. We will still meet for daily prayer time from 5pm-6:30pm at the Hazel Dell Campus. (Tuesdays are at the Jefferson Street Campus.) We welcome you to join us. We believe prayer is the game changer!
This afternoon, the Sangamon County Health Department issued orders intended to limit the risk of contracting the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Starting this Saturday, indoor events are limited to 250 people within an enclosed area or room while outdoor events are limited to 500 people. Currently, these orders are effective through April 14 but will be re-evaluated throughout the next thirty days.
To keep within the Health Department’s orders, we will be limiting the number of people in both the Hazel Dell and Jefferson Street Sanctuaries to 250. Once we reach the 250 limit at the Hazel Dell Campus, we will direct people to enjoy the service in the café area, where it will be streamed to the televisions. Unfortunately, there is no “overflow” area at the Jefferson Street Campus. Since our 9am service at Hazel Dell is the largest of our three services, we ask that some of you who attend the 9am service consider attending either the 10:30am service or the Traditional Service at the Jefferson Street Campus this Sunday.
Our plan is to see how this approach goes this Sunday and then re-assess before next Sunday.
Robert Vander Meer of Pure Desire Ministries was scheduled to be our guest speaker this Sunday at the Hazel Dell Campus. We have postponed his visit to a future date to be determined. Instead, Pastor Mark will speak at the Hazel Dell Campus and his message will be streamed to the Jefferson Street Campus.
In the mean time, our cleaning staff is working hard to continually disinfect all surfaces and areas at both campuses, including Calvary Academy and Calvary Day Care. We are already very intentional about providing clean and safe environments but are now using stronger disinfectants and increasing our cleaning frequency.
- We ask that you also be cautious, and we encourage you to do the following:
Wash hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs can easily spread via door knobs, handrails, faucets, etc.
- Refrain from shaking hands with others or hugging. Instead, let’s offer a smile or wave as a friendly greeting.
- Consider staying home if you or a family member meet any of the criteria below. We, of course, would rather you worship with us, but we want you to recover quickly while not putting others at potential risk.
- Show signs or symptoms of a cold or flu, including a cough, fever, or shortness of breath
- Have recently traveled out of the country
- Are immunosuppressed
- Have elderly or sickly loved ones at home
If you feel it is best for you to enjoy the service from home, we understand. You can easily live-stream the message through our Facebook page. You do not have to have a Facebook account to watch. You simply go to our Facebook page, find our most recent post, and click on the link in that post to watch. You can watch it live or, if you prefer, at a later time. You can also listen to the message through our website. It will be loaded and ready by noon on Monday.
We want those of you who may stay home to still be able to turn in prayer requests or praise reports. You can simply email them to [email protected] Online giving is also available to you through our website by clicking here.
At this time, we have not made any cancellations to our upcoming services or events. However, effective immediately, the Play Zone will be closed until further notice. In the event that local and state health officials recommend closure or we determine it is in your best interest to cancel an event or close the Church Office, Day Care or Calvary Academy, we will inform everyone to the best of our ability through our website, social media, and email.
Calvary recognizes that there are cases of individuals who have been severely impacted by this virus. Let’s all continue to be diligent, stay informed and pray for these families and regions that are especially experiencing the effects of COVID-19.
REGARDING YOUR KIDS/STUDENTS
The safety and health of your children remains a priority to us, and we want to do everything we can to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We have closed the Play Zone at the Hazel Dell Campus until further notice and have increased our cleaning efforts.
If your child exhibits symptoms or is not feeling well, we ask that you please keep him or her home. If your child exhibits any symptoms while attending a Calvary Kids or Calvary Youth service or event, you will need to come pick up your child.
Again, we take your child’s health and safety very seriously and want to do everything we can to keep your child healthy.
