  • The population of Nepal is 30 million people.
  • The political system is corrupt and unstable.
  • The average age of a woman sold into prostitution in Nepal is 9-14 years.
  • Project Rescue is working to save these women from the Brothels.
  • Homes of Hope are places that the girls can go and live.
    • Here, they learn vocational and life skills so that they can be productive in society.
    • They also provide literacy programs and educational programs for the women that no one else will teach.
  • 10-15 thousand women are trafficked into India.
  • Hinduism is the major religion of India.
    • Women are not valued in Hindu society
    • When girls are born in a Hindu household, it is a day of mourning.
    • Sonograms are illegal in Nepal because if the baby was a girl, it would be aborted.
  • Currently, a hospice is needed to help women dying of HIV/AIDS.
    • Doctors and healthcare professionals in Nepal will not touch a woman who is HIV positive.
    • The women are dying on the streets with no one to care for them.
    • The vision of the hospice is to hold the hands of a woman as she leaves a world where she has been told she is worthless, and steps into the Kingdom of God where she is called God’s child.
