If we are to live as God calls us to live, we must understand ourselves and God. Our nature is to sin, and we need a complete new nature if we are going to fulfill God's purpose for our lives. God is the giver of every good and perfect gift. He blesses us with much more than material posessions. He blesses us with life, awareness, healthy relationships, purpose, values, and emotional health. We are called to evangelize. Our role in evangelism is to pray and proclaim.

James 1:13–18
To live as God calls we must understand ourselves and God.
When you understand who we are and you understand who God is it becomes clear that we don’t simply need to be more disciplined but we need a complete new nature.
Our nature is to sin.
God is the Father of all light.
Mankind - The nature of mankind is corrupt and if given into will lead to death.
God - The Giver of every good gift and every perfect gift.
1. Life
2. Awareness
3. Relationships
4. Purpose
5. Values
6. Emotional Health
Matthew 5:45
Key thought: Do you know the source of your decisions in life?
James 1:16
James warns us about being deceived because we can be deceived.
God is Father of all light and if we live by another light we will be deceived.
THERE IS DANGER IN WALKING IN DECEPTION.
1. We are to show God’s glory and we don’t.
2. We are deceived about our standing with God and others standing with God.
1 John 1:5–6
Warning: If you walk in the glory of God it is not always appreciated.
John 15:18–19
The good and perfect gifts of God in us are supposed to show the glory of God to the world.
James 1:18
His Word plays the key part in our cleansing.
Final point: It is fruitless to argue with someone about the wisdom of darkness when they are in the darkness.
To evangelize is not to win converts though we hope converts are won. To evangelize is to announce the Good News and let the Good News do its work.
Our role in evangelism is twofold:
1. Pray
2. Proclaim
