Who has the greatest influence in your life? We need to be careful who we allow to influence us. We know who our influences are by the way we act. We act like the people who influence us, and those who act like us are inlfuenced by us. Not every influence is a good influence. We need to make sure that the people we allow to influence us are striving to please God. The Word of God should be our influence.

James 3:1-6
Two questions:
1. Who has great influence in your life? ____________________.
2. Who do you have great influence over in life? _____________.
How do you know the answer to these questions?
You know who you’re influenced by who you act like, and you know who you influence by who starts acting like you.
Influence has great impact in lives and influence starts with words.
Remember, all influence is not good.
Who should influence your life?
1. Those clearly aligned with the Word of God.
Proverbs 13:20
2. Those who clearly understand the times we live in!
3. Those whose priorities are God’s priorities.
Deception points to God’s end but some way other than God’s way.
Big warning: Most people don’t just decide to go against God’s plan for their lives; they justify their steps away from God’s plan.
4. Those that have a right Spirit.
Ephesians 5:19–20
Influence impacts the spirit.
This is what James teaches: The tongue corrupts the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
The Word of God is to be our influence.
Be careful who influences your life because words corrupt.
