Fire Suppression

We need to learn how to tame our tongues. There is a difference between correction and attacking. Correction is done in love and has a course of action to go with it. Attacking is done out of selfishness and is done to undermine your value. We need to figure out how flammable we are. How do we let words affect us?

James 3:2–6 (NIV)
I.   DO YOU BELIEVE WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS?

James 3:6
Proverbs 18:21
Matthew 12:36–37

If we really believe the word of God, we will spend some time learning how to talk.

II.   IS YOUR WORLD ON FIRE?
We have all faced the sting of the tongue.

How has that fire burnt your life?

How flammable are you?

Psalm 119:165 (KJV)

The closer the person, the more intense the flame is.
There is a difference between correction and attacking.

Correction is done in love and has a course of action.

Attacking is selfish and undermines your value before the world and you.

Some of you today, your world is on fire. It is still burning.

YOU STILL CANNOT BE WHAT GOD INTENDS YOU TO BE BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN BOMBED OUT LIKE A WWII CITY.

Why did David overcome?  One word - TRUST!

III.   HEAR THE PROMISE OF GOD.

David, though troubled, seemed to march on unfazed:
1.       He ignores
2.       He remains righteous
3.       He receives the pain
4.       He gives it to God

Three promises for you:

1 Corinthians 12:7

Ephesians 2:8–10

James 1:18
Who are you going to believe?

You overcome a lie by standing on truth.
