Rewards

Christians are called to live in this world, but by the rules of another world. God is working on us and through us. A trial is an external testing of faith, and a temptation is an internal testing of faith. A man is blessed when he faces trials of many kinds. The Bible says we will receive many kinds of rewards and crowns in heaven. This message highlights some of those.

Right Thinking

Being a Christ follower is all about change. The changes begin in our minds and continue throughout life. The brother in humble circumstances is in a trial of his faith, and the brother who is rich is in a trial of his faith as well. The one in humble circumstances needs to make sure his thinking is right. The rich man needs to remind himself daily of his need for God.

What Do I Do Now?

Faith is about learning how to deal with the trials of life. Trials bring about maturity and completeness. When I understand what trials do in my life, I should face them with joy and patience. When walking through a trial, we should ask for wisdom, and we must ask in faith. We need to "get out of the boat" and face our trials, and keep our eyes on Jesus during the storm.

This Is Exciting!

The first chapter in James deals with life and faith meeting at the point of trials. The first step in overcoming trials and temptations is knowing them. Christianity is not the easy path, it is the right path. Our trials and temptations have the potential to bring about great and glorious change in our lives and for eternity.Trials and temptations bring maturity and completeness.

Who is Jesus to You?

James was Jesus' brother. He was a skeptic of Jesus during Jesus' life, but turned after Jesus appeared to him after His death. We are servants of God. God is not our servant. We are called to serve him, and He is not responsible for serving us. Everyday, we need to ask ourselves how we can better serve God. We cannot expect breakthroughs if we think of God as our servant. Breakthroughs come when we seek to serve God.

The Need to be Complete

Jesus brought many things to this world. He brought good news to the poor, freedom for the prisoner, sight for the blind, and release for the oppressed. Jesus was not just thinking of one group, he was talking about all mankind. We are incapable of feeling complete and satisfied without the love of Jesus. We are missing a connection with the living God, and this is what Jesus came to restore. What was lost in the garden is restored at the cross and is found in Jesus.

God's Weighing Station

God is able to wiegh the load He places on you before you get it. God knows our breaking points. Satan cannot place a load on you that God does not allow. God will not allow Satan to place a load on you that exceeds the limit. We need to trust in God when we see the load coming.
