In God We Trust

God was a part of building our nation. America is becoming very secularized. America is forgetting about God. People who do not study the Word will not know the difference between true doctrine and false doctrine. The only hope for America is the Church being the Church. We need to put our trust in God.

Freedom!

James teaches us practical lessons of faith meeting life. Faith is not religious exercise, but new birth that creates new life. When we are truly religous, we are seeking to please God first. A man who is seeking to please God keps a tight reign on his tongue, looks after those in need, keeps oneself from being polluted by the world, and does not show partiality based on materialism. The royal law has profound mercy built in. A lack of mercy for others shows that my heart has not been transformed.

The People Gift

We are not to show favoritism. You should not treat a regular person any differently than a famous person. We need to be accepting and friendly to everyone who walks in the doors of the church. We are called to love others as we love ourselves. Favoritism is about what a person can do for me, how they can improve my status. Favoritism is loving myself more than I love others. Another's gifting does not take away from my gifting. Life is a celebration, not a competition.
