Learn more, worship more

I was doing some reading this week in a book called “Primal” by Mark Batterson where he had some interesting and challenging words on worship:

“God doesn’t just want you to worship Him; He wants you to know why you worship Him.  Great love is born of great knowledge of the Creator and His creation.  Don’t get me wrong - knowledge does not automatically translates into worship.  But in some respects, quality of worship is determined by a quantity of knowledge.  The more you know, the more you have to worship.  Simply put: learn more, worship more.”

These words are an important reminder to us that we worship God because we KNOW He is worthy of our worship and we KNOW this because we spend time with Him and with His Word.   The more time we spend getting to know God the more we will have a desire to worship Him.  Remember, God desires that we worship Him in Sprit and in Truth.  Part of this involves our minds – what we know of Him and where our minds are engaged when we are in a time of worship.  When we miss the Spirit or the Truth part in worship, we fail to completely worship God as He desires.
