ELEVATE

One definition for the word ELEVATE is this: to raise to a higher intellectual or spiritual level. Monday night we held our third ever worship team worship night called Elevate. It was over a year ago now when I read a blog from Brian Houston of Hillsong church where he presented a leadership challenge: don’t focus on the growth of the church and its ministries, focus on the health because healthy things grow. That really struck a chord in me as I begin to consider my approach to the teams that I lead. Since then I began evaluating the health of our teams spiritually and how I was not to only building a group of musicians, but to build a team of worshippers.
Since then there have been many changes implemented and I hope we are healthier now than we were a year ago...I think we are. One of the things we began doing is devotionals in our training nights where the worship team spends time in the Word and other worship resources together. Monday nights worship night is another element we added and do about every 3-4months. We simply come together, share the Word and spend time doing exactly what we are leading people to do multiple times a week…worship.
I believe that when a worship team comes together to worship we are fighting battles in the Spirit realm; battles that would try and hinder us in our worship services on Sunday’s or Wednesday’s. There are battles that were won Monday night that will help us further our leading congregations in worship, and that is a very exciting thing.
