Thought for Today

Do you know how to tell if someone is married? The most obvious sign is a ring on the ring finger of the left hand. There are much more significant signs of marriage. Affection, verbal promises, public confirmation, consistency over time, and children are important outward signs that demonstrate the commitment of marriage.

What are the signs of commitment in teaching? The most obvious is showing up on Sunday mornings, engaged and ready to teach. Other signs of your commitment include time on the job, showing up early, dedication, energy, preparation, and intensity. Second Chronicles 16:9 says that the “eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” Let your prayer today be Psalm 71:18: “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.”

Be strengthened today by God for whom and through whom you teach!

Quote for Today

“Without passion man is a mere latent force and possibility, like the flint which awaits the shock of the iron before it can give forth its spark.”

—Henri Amiel
