    Thought for Today

The Israelites were blessed by God but chose many times not to be a blessing to others or to God. Since every good and perfect thing comes from God, look around you and be overwhelmed by his good gifts.

When we take our eyes off his blessings, we begin to forget, tend to despair, and often feel like quitting. Isaiah 51:1 should be on your lips all week: “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn.” Remember your past in order to acknowledge God’s hand in your future! Even if you’ve only been teaching for two weeks, you have the potential to improve, to be filled with God’s blessing, and to grow. As you see God’s blessing, ask how you can give it away! Remember, you can never out-give God, and he is ready to refill you and reuse you!

    Quote for Today

“I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized. If we take people only as they are, we make them worse; if we treat them as though they were what they ought to be, we steer them in the right direction.”

    —Goethe

    Scripture for Today

“I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing” (Ezekiel 34:26).
